Storm King Art Center is an open-air museum located within 30 minutes of Valley Rock Inn. Storm King contains what is perhaps the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the United States. We've enjoyed a few visits here over the years and highly recommend it. Please make sure to book tickets in advance!
It's hard to believe Harriman State Park and adjacent Sterling Forest is so close to Manhattan with 70,000 acres of forever wild parkland. There are mountain to climb and lakes to kayak! Make sure to download AllTrails before heading out on a hike so that you don't get lost :)
Sterling Forest State Park is a pristine natural refuge with great hiking. We recommend the Sterling Lake Loop Trail, a 4.2 mile loop trail with scenic lake views. Please keep an eye out for wildlife including a variety of hawks, songbirds, and black bears.
Peekskill is a small and charming town on the Hudson River Valley, just 50 miles north of NYC. Peekskill is known for it's beautiful waterfront, easy access to trails, and cute, walkable town. We usually visit Peekskill after a hike and recommend you do the same :) Don't miss Peekskill Brewery (https://www.peekskillbrewery.com/) and Taco Dive Bar (https://tacodivebar.com/)
Take a scenic drive (or bike ride) down Seven Lakes Drive and lose yourself (and your cell service)
