How We Met

Megan's Version

We met while attending college together at Maranatha Baptist University. We worked together on the student body council, making films and advertisements for events. I knew I really enjoyed his friendship and loved working with him. A few months in, Joshua started liking me a little more than just friends. When he admitted his feelings to me at Artist Series in February 2019, I was very conflicted and in the end I chose not to pursue a relationship with him because of someone else I was interested in. Josh was heartbroken ;) However, we both grew so much over the next few months and that next fall God used quite humorous circumstances to bring us together again. Josh sent an accidental text to me instead of sending it to my gramma, and it forced me to deal with my feelings. God opened up my heart to this incredible guy and I knew Josh was someone I would want to pursue a relationship with. We started dating November 17, 2019 and I love this man more every day.

How We Met

Joshua's Version

I first met Megan when I was asked to work on the student body council media team. I began to realize how amazing of a person she was and I had to have her related to me. Her being two and a half years older than me, I tried to pair her with my brother, Caleb. Thankfully, this plan didn’t work out that well.. Megan and I spent many long hours together working on videos for the student body, and I began to start crushing. However, I knew she still liked another guy. After mentioning it a lot to see how it was going and showing her that I cared about her, I got a sense of what was going on. At the end of the first semester, I gave her a hug goodbye as we parted for Christmas break and my heart jumped. We stayed in a little contact over break, but as the new year came, I had no clue what we were going to go through. In February, I waited to see if someone was going to ask her to Artist Series, but no one did. I told her I liked her and asked her to the event, to which she said yes. It was a joyous time. My friends and I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning talking about it and trying to come up with an Instagram caption. However, after posting it, things changed. The man she liked came back, and she was put in a dilemma. After a short amount of time, she told me she liked him, but just wanted to be friends with me. I was hurt, so I distanced myself from her as much as I could. Needless to say, the summer came, went bye, she was single, and I tried not to think about her anymore. As we all came back the next school year, we all started hanging out with our friend group and became good friends again. After mistakenly texting her instead of her gramma, she found out that I still liked her. We pursued dating taking it slow, and then progressed from there after a couple months. Two years ago, I didn't see us ever working out, but thankfully, here we are! And I am so incredibly thankful and happy!

The Proposal

11.7.20

We planned a trip to meet up with a couple of our college friends, Annika and Austin, in South Carolina in November. Little did I (Megan) know that they were planning a surprise proposal. We all met up and explored different things in Greenville, then drove to the Blue Ridge Parkway to hike up to a mountain. Annika (who is a photographer) was planning on taking some pictures of me and Josh. While they went to "scout out for good locations" to take pictures, Josh and I were left alone. We sat on a blanket for a few minutes just talking and when we stood up, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Annika captured the whole thing on camera and it was the most perfect moment. Joshua surprised me by inviting my family up to his grandparents house for a surprise engagement party.
