Our Story

A dating app success story

Josh and I met in April of 2017 through Bumble, a dating app where the girl has to message first. He was easy and fun to talk to but what really grabbed my attention was when he asked, “Are you Anna Merritt’s daughter?” Turns out, Josh and my mother worked with each other for years. I quickly texted my mom to ask what she knew about him, and she immediately gave me her seal of approval. She was a big fan of Josh then, and still is. Not long after, he took me to Pablo’s where he got me cheese dip and margaritas, a quick way to my heart. And now here we are, getting married, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Proposal

December 21, 2019

The morning of December 21st I received a phone call from my father. He wanted us to meet them for dinner at Village Tavern since my sister and brother-in-law were getting into town for Christmas. This didn't raise any red flags for me since Village Tavern is one of his go to locations. Josh told me that we were going to need to leave early because of "traffic at the Summit". This is completely believable if you know anything about the Summit at Christmastime. I got ready and we got into the truck to head to dinner, or so I thought. Not long after I got into the truck, Josh handed me a bandanna and told me to tie it around my eyes. This was a little suspect. I reluctantly put it on (I had just done my makeup!). He took off in only God knows what direction, and told me that I shouldn't get my hopes up too high as my surprise wasn't going to be ready until AFTER Christmas. Immediately I thought that he had gotten me a puppy. We drove in suspense for what felt like forever until he finally came to a stop. He got out, came to my side to help me out, and led me across the grass and onto what turned out to be a dock. He told me to take my bandanna off and when I did I saw he was on one knee with the most beautiful ring. He started talking about where we were, that it was where his happiest childhood memories were made, and now he wanted to make the rest of his happy memories with me. He didn't get much further than that because I cut him off with a resounding YES! I saw my sister behind the truck, snapping pictures of the whole thing. After lots of hugs, tears, and excitement, Josh took me to Perry's and we had a wonderful dinner. After dinner, he surprised me by having both of our families waiting at the bar, including my brother who wasn't supposed to be in town until two days later. It was the sweetest gesture, and the sweetest proposal.
