Stuff You Need to Know

The three bars in the top left are important!

OUR VENUE We are getting married in front of several waterfalls! There will be a short walk down to the water’s edge on a gravel path, so keep that in mind when selecting your shoes! You may want an umbrella, and jacket too. We have rain contingency plans just in case. THE SCHEDULE We’re scheduled to begin at 4pm with a reception to follow. Feel free to bring your favorite adult beverage and dancing shoes for the reception! You can get more details on this site on the schedule page. GIFT REGISTRY Did you know our wedding registry is on this site? We are merging two houses into one, so we don’t really need physical gifts. If you are so inclined to bless us with a gift, we have a few options set up to help us get started in this next journey. Follow the Registry link in the three bars in the top left. PLACES TO STAY AND THINGS TO DO Need a place to stay? We have a few recommended places for lodging on the Travel tab. We will be the coolest thing in town, but if you’re looking for something else to do before or after the wedding, check out the Things to Do tab. THE BAND The best band in NWA is doing the music at our wedding. Check out the The Take Cover Band! https://www.thetakecoverband.com

How it All Began

August 12, 2020

Our first date was supposed to be pretty low key and low commitment: ice cream outside of Cold Stone creamery since neither one of us drink coffee. Before long, it turned into a double date with another couple on a boat in the middle of Beaver Lake. It was a crystal clear night in the middle of the Perseids Meteor Shower. Walt Disney couldn't have written a more romantic setting as shooting stars arched over our first date.

Proposal

Marji knew it was coming at some point but Josh was on a mission to make this a surprise: something that isn’t easy to do since Marji can easily pick up on things and has not been surprised before. Josh enlisted her friends to help throw her off. Thankfully, he isn’t a very good liar. The two had planned to attend a small game night on March 13, but Josh asked Marji to go to Crystal Bridges first. This gave rise to her suspicions of an impending proposal, so the plan to throw her off commenced. Sandy and Emily helped Josh with ideas to ask Marji to a weekend romantic trip. Of course, she agreed and considered that the proposal may happen on that weekend. Little did she know, there was no plan to follow through with that romantic get away. In fact, she is still waiting for that trip! 😉 Unfortunately, Marji wasn’t feeling well so we canceled Crystal Bridges. This worked in Josh’s favor to convincingly play off the change of plans as no big deal. Marji started questioning whether he was planning to propose that night after all. Josh faked needing to deliver some books to a friend who wanted to meet Marji, so the two stopped at an office near Chapel on the Creeks. They walked around to the gazebo near where they had their second date by the water and Josh proposed. He even had a photographer waiting to capture the moment. Then it was time to go to the game night. The discussion on the way revolved around whether to tell everyone. Josh’s deception kicked back in and he convinced her that he was fine either way. He knew what Marji did not: the game night was actually her engagement party. The photographer beat us there to capture that moment too. The shock absent in Marji’s face at the proposal was accutely present when she walked in to shouts of “surprise” and decorations celebrating new found love. Our amazing friends planned a wonderful night for us to celebrate!
