We're Getting Married!

Working for Champlain College, we ended up on booth-duty together, surrounded by cosplay characters and gamers at a massive video game festival in Boston. We had met a few years earlier at the same event but this time there was an instant spark between us and we were inseparable upon returning to Burlington. A few months later, Marissa met Jesse and Eli as "Josh's Friend". The kids were not fooled. After a hike up Camels Hump in 96-degree weather, we all gathered for dinner and the ever-observant Jesse suggested out loud that perhaps Marissa was more than just a friend. Smart kid. Jesse has hilariously referred to Marissa as her “Illegal Stepmom”. Five years later, we’re making this family official and promoting Marissa to “Official Stepmom”.

On a sunny winter day, Josh took Marissa on a walk along the Burlington bike path. When we stopped at our usual spot on the beach, Josh, acting more nervous than usual, told Marissa "I have a thought". Marissa knowing this was something bigger than dinner plans, asked him what it was, and Josh responded "I think we should get married" and bent down on one knee. There were a lot of "oh my gods!" and "are you serious's?" from Marissa until Josh brought her back to the conversation and asked, "So is that a yes?". It was. And now we are planning a wedding celebration that we would love for you to be a part of.
