How We Met

Hi! It’s Lexi and I’m going to tell you a little story of how Josh and I met and it all started at Walmart. I started working at Walmart in late August of 2020. Josh was already employed there and I was assigned to the same shift as him and several other workers. My job consisted mainly of individual work, so I didn't really socialize with many of our coworkers besides Suzy and DJ. Side note, Josh says that he tried to talk to me my first day and I don't remember that, so we'll take his word for it. A couple weeks went by and we were pretty slow with work for the day. Suzy said that Josh needed help in the freezer and sent me to help him stock. Again, I had never "spoken" to Josh in my mind so I was a little nervous because I'm shy around new people. I walk over to the freezer and meet Josh. Shockingly, he didn’t know I was coming, but accepted the help. After we put on our big coats to walk into the freezer and grab merchandise, he casually mentions that we don’t have to wear our masks inside the freezer. I was confused, but took his word for it, again. Little did I know that was never a thing and he was trying to see what I looked like underneath my mask! The little devil. For the rest of our shift we hit it off and could not stop talking. We had so many of the same interests and we both couldn’t stop laughing. He invited me to eat with him and a few others at lunch and I agreed. We again, hit it off and dare I say I got butterflies and thought about him long after I got home. A week goes by of stolen glances, flirting and eating lunch together before he asks me out on a date. I was so damn nervous that I swear I was going to throw up on the spot. He picked me up at my house a couple days later and even opened my door for me! He took me to Bob Evans and I was so nervous that my stomach was in knots and I couldn't eat anything. I felt like an idiot ordering a small plate of scrambled eggs and I only took 2 bites… Afterwards, he took me to the movie theater where we ended up being the only people there which was so fun because we got to talk some more and enjoy each other's company. After that date, we hung out almost every single day after work and were practically inseparable. He asked me to be his girlfriend a month later with a bouquet of roses and a treat basket on October 10th (The day we got engaged and now getting married)! I truly like to say that Josh and I meeting was fate. I had just gotten out of a bad relationship and decided to leave my job where they had worked and started Walmart. Additionally, Josh had applied to work at Ball Metal and was hoping to secure a job so he could leave Walmart. Josh found out he got a job at Ball Metal the second week I was there, only shortly after we hit it off and was set to leave a couple weeks later. We only had a month span of where our paths crossed and if it weren’t for a little shove in his direction, I don’t think we ever would’ve talked or even been together. The true masterminds that we both like to give credit to are our old coworkers,Suzy and DJ. Josh had told them that he thought I was cute after seeing my side profile in orientation and made a few other comments during my first two weeks. DJ was a detective by asking me if I was single and other questions that he would relay back to him. Finally, the perfect opportunity came when Suzy asked me to go work in the freezer with Josh. Thank you Suzy and DJ! Now here we are almost 5 years in October and ready to commit an eternal promise to one another. I love you Josh and I can’t wait to be your wife!
