In 2019 both Leanne and Josh were coming out of relationships that didn't work out and were looking for something more. Leanne was living and working in Calgary and Josh was doing the same in Edmonton. Even though they grew up close to each other and shared many friends they never knew the other one existed. That, however, changed in June 2019 when one of Leanne's coworkers and Josh's childhood friend thought that a connection between the two would be "meant to be". On paper the plan was great except for one small problem, Leanne was leaving Canada for the entire summer and thus a first date would have to be on hold. What was Josh to do???? He texted Leanne, started a conversation and didn't stop even though she was in Israel and later Hawaii while Josh was stuck in Edmonton. After just over two months of daily texting, Josh and Leanne finally had a chance to meet for the first time with Josh driving the three hours to Calgary for a first date. Since then they both travelled many miles on Highway 2 just to spend a few hours with each other when they could. Exactly one year after that first date, Josh got down on one knee and proposed.
