Our Story

When we initially met, we were both enrolled in the same social dance class at MSU, yes that's Montana State University not Michigan. A lot happened that semester, the roof of the gym caving in and hopping from location to location, and through all of this we knew of each other but it was a near miss. Fast forward 2 years, Josh was living in Helena for work and Lauren was finishing up her last semester of nursing school. We both happened to be on the dating app Bumble. Now, Lauren claims all to follow is thanks to her, she was the first to swipe right after all, and we ended up matching and chatting. After a week of talking, we finally decided to meet for dinner as Josh was coming through Bozeman. On November 28th, 2021, we decided to meet at an Asian restaurant in Bozeman named Hokkaido. For some backstory, Josh had found the same chain in Helena, it was a nice sit down restaurant and seemed to be a nice place to have a first date. It was a surprise to find out that the Bozeman restaurant took a different approach, much like a Panda Express. Regardless of the change in plans we did end up having a great time talking and getting to know each other over bowls of ramen. Following the first date we easily decided that there was something here and to continue seeing each other. In April of 2023, a year and a half into dating, we were fortunate to have the experience to view an especially active solar storm. We went out with blankets, pillows, and warm drinks to watch the Northern Lights as they danced across the sky. It was Lauren's first time viewing them and, after a slow start to the light show, they exploded across the sky. Everywhere you looked around us the lights were spreading out and vibrant. Lauren was attempting to take everything in all at once. Looking in every direction and saying "Oh my god!" every 3 seconds. Josh couldn't take his eyes off her and her excitement. That's when he knew that she was the one and the planning for the engagement started then. On November 28th, 2023, we took a trip to Chico Hot Springs for our 2 year anniversary. We exchanged gifts, drank prosecco, and had an amazing dinner at Chico's grand dining room. After closing down the hot spring pool, Josh suggested that we go star gazing out in the mountains. We got dressed for the cold night and headed out to find a spot, with the ring in Josh's breast pocket. We pulled up at a spot close to the resort, next to a running stream. We stood side-by-side at the edge of the road, Lauren looking up at the sky and Josh playing musical pockets with the ring box so that she wouldn't notice it too soon. After a long winded speech, Josh got down on one knee and asked Lauren to marry him. For those of you who made it this far, thank you for reading our story. We appreciate each and every one of you for being a part of our lives that inevitably lead us here. We've included pictures of some of our adventures up to this point in the gallery tab if you would like to view them. We are excited and look forward to our wedding day with all of you who can make it! For those who can't, I guess we still like you... Love, the Bride and Groom
