we're getting married!

The summer of 2022, Laura was working her last season at The Port Shores when she heard whispers from Anne Holmes (a cottager of 20+ years who had known Laura and her family since she was young) that her new cottage neighbours moving in were "lovely and had four sons." Two years later, Laura living in Toronto and spending many summer weekends up North on her parents dock, Laura heard wind of a certain son named Josh, who was of similar age. Both summers living in Toronto, Laura would boat over to Duck Lake to visit Anne to enjoy chats on the dock or her screen covered porch, where the whispers began. June brought the whispers and July brought subtle shouts of acclamation for Laura to come visit Anne on a particular day at a particular time when neither Josh or Laura quite knew the depths of behind the scenes plotting that was taking place. And so Laura and Josh met on a July afternoon, sun high in the sky, his voice deep and eyes captivating, her smile sparkling and heart racing. A month later, Laura received a text wondering if it was okay for Anne to give Josh her number - Laura, who had been telling all her friends about this man, casually responded yes, trying her best to keep her cool. Another month went by before Laura heard from Josh, a text finally arriving a few days after Labour Day weekend, the summer slowly starting to fade away. God's timing - perfect. After blissfully texting and chatting for a few weeks, Laura and Josh had their first date on September 22, leading to their second date a week later when they made it official. After just shy of five months, Josh got down on one knee on the snowiest day of the winter and asked Laura to marry him - and she said YES, a thousand times yes, to forever and ever.
