*Due to differing historical accounts, this development of the story will be reported from both parties perspective* *the bride is right* Laura Kate Fulcher, Bride: We met during a friend cliff jumping trip, during which Josh was not interested in talking to me, at all. Which was fine, I was too busy trying to catch tadpoles and find logs to use as floaties. After that initial meeting, we became good friends through several mutual friends. Throughout this time, LK took notice of his character and became very interested. They would talk for hours straight, and stayed an hour later at lunch after everyone had left. This would make any girl think the guy is interested, right? WRONG. Apparently, that is the best time to tell a girl that you are interested in someone else! The best news to hear. Afterwards, I continued to be his friend but refused any thought of more, due to the audacity of the situation. Very rational. Josh starts trying to talk to me more, however this has the opposite affect that he intended. LK OFFENDED as he was saying things that did not make sense to be flirting, which he says they were. Not sure if I buy it, but oh well... later I'm able to tell he likes me still. I tell a friend about my frustration towards him, to which she says "I don't get why he bothers you so much?" I would be contemplating that question my entire drive home. During which I came to a revelation. "I STILL LIKE HIM." After making this discovery, I had serious work to do. Quickly, situations presented themselves. 1. I would sit next to him at my Halloween party. Nothing. 2. He came and sanded my door after realizing I needed help fixing it. Nothing. 3. DECIDES TO GO WITH HIM ALONE TO HIS FAVORITES BAND'S CONCERT OUT OF THE BLUE. NOTHING. After this, I about gave up... just kidding I don't quit. It was time to drop random sassy comments that were completely obvious. Through my very strategic remarks and sassy comments/questions, and very convenient bathroom breaks for him and our friend Grant to discuss the situation, he catches me as I'm leaving. He asks me out. I say yes. HAZZAH. VICTORY. There were a few ups and downs between then and December 2024, including me being very stupid and ending things, but I decide to ask him if he would give me a second chance. He is the most kind, generous, and sincere man I have ever known, so I don't know how I could have ever thought otherwise. God's plan is perfect and I believe He used that time away from each other to show us how much we need and love each other. He answered so many prayers by providing Josh, and I will forever be thankful for that!
Josh's (correct) account of the events: Okay first forget everything you just read, cause this is how our story ACTUALLY happened. The first time, I met LK was at a church event where all the young adults went cliff jumping. I remember meeting her in the swimming hole and talking about fishing. Our conversation was brief but I remember thinking she was pretty cool. After that, we ended up in the same small friend group that continued to hang out for months after that day. A couple of weeks later, we had our first 1-on-1 conversation where we found how similar we were in our hobbies and our beliefs. I remember thinking this girl was pretty cool, but admittedly at this point didn't think it would ever be more than a great friendship. This is because I was foolishly interested in another girl in our friend group at the time. And the next day would be the greatest regret of my life, telling LK this fact. Very shortly afterward, I finally realized that LK was actually the girl I had been looking for my entire life. The only problem was she hated my guts, which was understandable, but I was determined to convince her that I was the one. After multiple months went by, full of hangouts and events in our friend group, I felt like our relationship was on the mend. A couple of months later, I planned to see my favorite band in concert and asked our friend group if anyone would be interested in going with. Low and behold, one person said she would be down, and that person was Laura Kate. After this night, I was a little more confident that she was interested in me, but I was still hesitant to pull the trigger. About a week later, we were getting Taco Mama with a friend and she made it very obvious that she was interested by voicing her frustrations about me not asking her out. When we were leaving, I made the decision to ask here out in the parking lot, and to my relief, she still had interest enough to say yes to a date. The date went really well, and everything was going perfectly, until about 2 weeks later she ended things. Devastated, I felt like I had lost the world. I remember praying a small prayer that the Lord would help me move on, or that she would change her mind. And then about a month later, she came to her senses and I cancelled my tickets to Texas. And since December 2024, I knew I had found my wife. So even though it may have been a little bumpy, I wouldn't change our story, cause I strongly believe the Lord used it make our love for each other even stronger. I thank Him daily for giving me the senses to realize the beautiful treasure that Laura Kate is, and I cannot wait to be her husband so that I may serve and lead her well.
