Here are my tips for staying out of trouble when walking around the city, particularly in areas outside the hotel zone. Don’t give papaya. This means, don’t be stupid and follow these tips to make your experience fun and safe when walking around the city. 1.Leave your flashy and expensive belonging at home. For reference, I will only wear my engagment ring the day of the wedding. Otherwise, silver and fake gold is what you’ll see me rocking. 2.When walking at night, avoid empty streets. walk in a group in well lit areas. 3. Don’t pull out cash at ATMs on the streets. Use ATMS at the hotels. Avoid carrying lots of cash. You can use your cards everywhere. You can even use dollars for tipping and small purchases. 4. Put your phone away when you’re not using it. Hide your purse when youre in the car. 5. As always, don't take drinks from strangers. This is not meant to scare you. I have never had an issue, but am extra cautious because it's better to be safe than sorry!
