Josh and I first met in the summer of 2010 in Denver, NC at my going-away party. I was moving away to begin college at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. Josh and I became friends and kept in touch as I was away at college. In early 2011, I moved back home to Denver, NC because I quickly realized that the College of Charleston was not a good fit for me. I went to Gaston College to earn my Associates Degree. Josh and I would see each other some around town and remained friends. In early 2012, I moved away again to Columbia, SC to pursue my Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. I would come home some on the weekends to spend time with family and friends. One particular weekend, I had contacted Josh to see if there was anything going around town that evening. He invited me to a friend’s house for a celebration. I went, and this was the night that I realized there was a connection between us. I returned to school at USC after that weekend and we began to get to know each other more through long distance. Our conversations continued to get longer and longer each day. We would both travel to see each other on the weekends. In October 2013, Josh asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes! In December 2013, I graduated from USC and moved home to Denver, NC. Josh and I quickly began starting a life together. Fast forward six years to 2019, we now own our very first home that we designed together, we have legal custody of Josh's 15 year old niece (Madison), and we have two cats and four dogs!
On October 22, 2018, Josh took me to the Blue Ridge Mountains for our five year anniversary. It is our tradition to spend our anniversary in the mountains every year. We headed to the mountains for a day trip. We arrived in Boone, NC early in the morning, so we decided to go on the Blue Ridge Parkway first. We found a lookout that no one was at and we got out of the car to enjoy the scenery. All of the sudden, Josh got down on one knee and asked me to be his WIFE and I said yes! It was perfect and intimate. We spent the whole day in the Blue Ridge Mountains together as a newly engaged couple. The rest is history!
