It was the spring of 2019, and we were both college freshmen at the University of Washington, sitting next to each other in English 131. At the time, we had no idea this would be the first of many “sitting next to each other” moments to come. That quarter, we were friendly classmates - the kind who chat before class and recognize each other around campus - but when the quarter ended, so did our daily proximity. Life moved on, and we didn’t see each other again… for a while. Fast forward to the end of senior year. We ran into each other at a mutual friend’s graduation party, and suddenly four years collapsed into one easy conversation. Coincidentally (or maybe not), the day before, Janice had spotted Josh walking across the stage on someone’s Instagram story, graduating from the business school. She remembered those early conversations about his hopes of applying to the program - and there he was, having done the thing. After that night, we decided to catch up - a first date that went much longer than either of us expected. We clicked almost instantly, with conversations about our personal lives flowing easily, and Janice laughing a lot at Josh’s jokes (a promising sign for both of us). What started as an easy catch-up quickly became something more. From there, our friendship grew into a forever kind of love. Somewhere between long talks, shared adventures, and realizing we were each other’s favorite person to do absolutely nothing with, we found a partnership built on love, patience, many new shared experiences, and plenty of laughter. What began as a shared classroom seat has grown into a life we’re so excited to keep building - side by side, forever and ever. ❤︎₊ ⊹
