How We Met

10.09.2015

Long story short, we met through mutual friend groups during our freshman year at Liberty University! We started texting first in October, and then began talking more and hanging out as friends until we finally talked about our feelings in February 2016. We went on our first date on Valentine’s Day after already establishing that close friendship, and Josh asked Hannelore to be his girlfriend that night. The rest is history!

Popping the Question

12.22.2018

First, I must say that my cover story up to this point was that I was BROKE. I had been turning down the thought of engagement for a few months, but really I was already scheming. HAHA. So here it is... H A W A I I Having only slept for two hours, I was WIDE awake that morning. The nervous excitement was giving me all the energy in the world to finally ask the love of my life to marry me. We all fumbled into the car and drove 45 minutes to Lanikai Pillbox. And if you don't know this place, the pillbox overlooks a beautiful beach and the town I grew up in. So in other words, this was the perfect spot to pop the question. It was still dark when we started the short hike. There were groups of people here and there all hiking up the pillbox to see the sunrise. Only 15 minutes into the hike, we decided to stop and stay at this ledge for the rest of the morning. We sat there and took in the view that was slowly being revealed by the rising sun. My two siblings and two of my cousins were with us. They were secretly my photographers and videographers. And we all took in this beautiful morning for a long sweet moment. Every once in a while, my secret helpers would lock eyes with me, wondering when I would muster up enough courage to do the thing. And so, while we were blasting worship music and having a praise party, I finally told Hannelore that I had written her a letter for part of her Christmas present. AHHHHH THIS WAS IT. Everything around me froze. And it was just me and the love of my life on that mountain. I stood before Hannelore and read her my heart on that little piece of paper. Here we were in Hawaii standing on one of my favorite views, overlooking the town I grew up in, worshipping the God who created everything. And with my hands shaking, I looked up at her, got on one knee, and.....

What's Next

after 5.24.2020

We are headed out to live in Portland, Oregon for at least the first three years of our marriage! Hannelore will be attending the University of Western States to earn her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, while Josh will be starting his career.
