They met in High School during Josh's Sophomore year & Cassie's Freshman year in 2005-2006. They had met through mutual friends and during a time when Cassie had thought it was a good idea to perm her hair. It was in fact not a good idea but Josh thought otherwise. He said, he thought this girl with this frizzy little perm is super freaking cute! Cassie always loved Josh's sweet nature, charm and fun energy! Josh moved to Texas in 2007 and he eventually moved back home in 2009 but Cassie had moved to BG to attend BGSU. Still in communication with each, Josh even came to take care of Cassie when she had her tonsils taken out. She always appreciated his friendship, even if she looked like a chipmunk.
Josh proposed on May 21, 2019 in the entry way of our first home. We were taking advantage of the time in between getting our keys and our official move in date to move in some boxes. Cassie had worked at the hospital that day and when she got home, they loaded her car and went over to the new house. While carrying boxes in together, josh had asked Cassie, "Hey babe? Where does this box go?" Not sure what the contents were Cassie asked what was inside it. Josh got down on his knee and started to open the box and as Cassie turned away to get more boxes from the car, she heard, "Hey babe?". When she turned around, there he was on his knee, with this beautiful hand-made wooden ring box and the most beautiful ring. She said yes. May 21st is Mary Herzberg's, Cassie's mother's, birthday. Josh had no idea he was proposing on her birthday and we continue to believe, It was her mothers way of being a part of such a beautiful day.
