We met in New Orleans in 2018, where we both taught high school English as Teach for America corps members. We actually ended up in next-door classrooms, and the rest was history, really. Ironically, we both went to UC Berkeley, had tons of mutual friends, and even lived on the same block but somehow never actually met until we graduated. We always say the universe conspired to keep us apart until the timing was right. Something about serendipity. Seven years later, we adopted and raised our cutie cat, Sushi, moved to New York, survived winters without heat when we were too broke to pay the bill, and navigated all kinds of jobs—some great, some not so great. Three states, a couple degrees, and 3 years of long distance later, we can't wait to get hitched! Josh proposed on a hike in Los Glaciers National Park in Argentine Patagonia. The day he proposed, we both said, “What if we got married at Home Place Pastures?” HPP was one of the first trips we took together when we were living in New Orleans, and have gone to their Boucherie and Blues Picnic almost every year since 2018. The moment Marshall—HPP’s owner—said yes, it really set the tone for everything else for our wedding: non-traditional, a little funky, and full of love, joy, and amazing food. We can’t wait to celebrate and party with everyone we love!
