Blue Star has a lot of independent artist shops as well as some great food/beverage options. South Alamade is an Italian gelato shop, Sukeban creates the best sushi in the world (per Bekah), and Bar 1919 is a speakeasy style cocktail bar with dangerously delicious drinks (we highly recommend the Waterfall).
Schlitterbahn is fun for all ages, and is located right next to the Comal River. The Comal is also a great place to spend a day tubing - there are several tube rental places along the river, and you can bring along beverages and snacks in non-disposable containers.
We used to go here for date nights! They are family and dog friendly, with places to walk in the park and along the San Antonio Riverwalk. They have great food and great drinks. We recommend Tenko Ramen!
watch out for the zebras
We like this restaurant, but also everything in downtown Gruene! If you park next to Gristmill, you can easily stroll around the historic German village. There are a lot of cute shops and restaurants, and it follows the Guadalupe River.
A must see and near by the San Antonio Riverwalk! Pro tip - if you go to the bar (Bar 601) you can also spend time in the sky deck after. The happy hour is pretty great (it is a Landry's restaurant). This is also where Josh told Bekah he loved her for the first time! :)
