Family Camping Trip - Summer 2017 Josh was playing in a Horseshoe tournament when he said he first noticed me in some red hippie pants. My girlfriend Rio and I were setting up our tent when my dog decided to introduce himself to Josh. Yolo walked up to him, I followed and we talked for a few minutes. Later that night, Karate Kid (1984) was playing on a huge projector under the stars. We were all in the woods, I thought I'd invite Josh to sit with us. It was all but five minutes until the man behind us started complaining about Josh being too tall. So, he sat elsewhere and that's where any chance of romance quickly fizzled. Fast forward two weeks, I get a call from a family friend (AnnMarie Dodson) "now my soon to be sister-in-law" asking if I was going to the OTL tournament and suggested I take an Uber with another friend that was planning on attending and Chad's younger brother, Josh . I knew she was up to something, but I went with it anyway because I did not want to drive myself. The morning of, I arrived at his house and unbeknownst to me... It was just the TWO of us! I knew she set me up!! He decided to drive, so off we went jamming to 'Mr. Big Stuff' by Jean Knight as we started getting to know each other. It started feeling like an actual date now and that is when I started noticing him. Not sure if it was all the IPA's we were drinking that day but we had a blast and that is when he nicknamed me his "Brown Shugga" after Lagunita's Sweet Release. We had so much fun together that day that we wanted to keep the date going. Later that night, after getting refreshed we went to one of my favorite spots, The La Jolla Comedy Club and the rest is history. Contrarily to Jean Knight's lyrics, Josh did end up getting my love. Much to my surprise, he set the whole OTL thing up. I guess he said he couldn't stop thinking about me after the camping trip and reached out to AnnMarie. It must have been those red hippie pants!
I was six months pregnant when I woke up on a Friday morning to go to work and saw a note in the bathroom that read, "No work for you today! All your bags are packed and we're going on our Babymoon." Unsure with how he pulled everything off, I was so excited for our trip. We ended up in Big Bear at a Bed and Breakfast in the snow! After dinner the following night we entered our cabin, where he had soft music playing with hundreds of candles and red rose petals all over the place. I really thought he was just trying to be romantic until he started rambling and I could see how nervous he was. He got down on one knee and popped the question. Full of tears, I kneeled down too and said, "Yes!" We danced and danced, celebrated with Apple Cider and ended our night with a cozy fire. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!! See you soon.
