We had known each other pretty much our entire lives. Kenzie's cousin, Kelly, played baseball with Josh's brother, David. Kenzie used Josh's highchair when she was a baby, they played in the dirt together at numerous baseball games, went to Gatlinburg together with the whole baseball group one Thanksgiving, and even took a picture together at the Best of Preps Awards. Even though they knew each other for forever, there was a two year age difference, they didn't go to the same schools, and weren't around each other much since they were busy playing sports. One day Josh's friend, Cody followed Kenzie on instagram. A few months later, Josh was in town visiting Cody, they went down to Beale Street, and Cody posted a picture of Josh on his Instagram story. Kenzie had just gotten out of shoulder surgery and may have been a little high from the painkillers when she saw the picture of Josh. Thanks to the painkillers she followed Josh on Instagram. A few hours later he followed her back, and messaged her. And the rest is history.

It was Kenzie's birthday, but Josh wouldn't tell Kenzie anything he had planned for that night only that she needed to be ready by 5:00 pm. Surprise #1: Josh took Kenzie to Coastal Fish Company for dinner. Once they were done, they headed back to Josh's parents house to watch the Tennessee football game. As they were pulling into the driveway, he said he had another surprise. Surprise #2: They drove down to to the back of his parent's land where there is a lake and a dock. The dock was decorated with lights, candles, a table with a birthday cake for Kenzie, and a TV. Josh turned the TV on to a video that he had made of all the pictures they had taken. At the end of the video, there was a text from Josh to his roommate after they had their first date saying, "I think I just hung out with my future wife." He dropped to one knee, and asked would she marry him. Before he could even finish asking, she said "yes." Just when Kenzie thought the night couldn't get any better and there were no more surprises, she was wrong. Surprise #3: They drove back up to his parents house. When they walked in, Kenzie and Josh's family were there to congratulate them. Not only were their families there, but Josh had contacted a few of Kenzie's friends and now bridesmaids about that night. Madi and Ellie flew and drove in just to be there for that day all while keeping it a secret from Kenzie.
