Through God's divine and creative sovereignty, we met through mutual friends who live on opposite sides of Atlanta. Hannah went to a Christmas Eve brunch intending to meet Josh's good friend, made sure she had a conversation with him there, and he left that interaction convinced that Hannah and Josh would be perfect together (and he was right!). After some thoughtful matchmaking plans and a few weeks later, we went on our first date that lasted 6 hours! Only a couple of dates and phone calls in we felt like we’d known each other forever. Since then we have grown in friendship and love, bonding over theology, teaching in youth ministry and serving in our local churches, attending live music and sporting events, and spending time with each other's friends and families.
Josh had reached out to one of Hannah's friends to set up a double date so they'd be out and about near Cauble Park in Acworth. After dinner, Josh suggested a walk at the park, where he'd secretly had his siblings set up an area for him to propose. Hannah was completely oblivious to the idea that he’d be proposing that night until she spotted their photographer friend, sisters-in-law, the setup for the proposal, and heard instrumental music playing in the background. Tealight candles were leading up to a table with flowers, a photo of them, the ring, and Josh's typed proposal speech that he'd rehearsed and memorized for this moment. He'd arranged for an instrumental cover of Hannah's favorite hymn, Be Thou My Vision, to play in the background while he gave his speech and asked her to marry him. She responded, "Yes, absolutely, of course!" After taking pictures, they went to her church where he'd had Hannah's small group and friends set up a dessert reception to celebrate their engagement with close family and friends!
