In October 2018, I was out to dinner with my Physical Therapist (PT) co-worker, Carina Siracusa, who just started a pelvic health residency in Columbus, OH and she was talking about how the first resident was doing. Little did I know that her resident was Ariana. Fast forward a couple months, I was busy on the bumble app and noticed that I matched with another PT who worked for the same company. After a little bit of conversation, we find out that she was the resident I have heard about. We ended up going on a romantic dinner at a sports bar and started to hang out more the next few months. We knew that she would be moving out of Columbus after her residency and I was planning on moving to complete my residency training so I thought it would be best not to date at that time and remain friends. A few months later we decide to drive up together to a PT conference in Chicago. We had such a great time and for those that know me understand that I can be quiet and shy around a large group of people. Ariana was great at helping me have a voice, all while introducing me to anyone she knew to make me feel comfortable. Although our two personalities are different, this is just one example of how we both compliment each other! We talked on the last night of the conference and decide to start dating not knowing where she would move next and that I would be living in Cincinnati for at least a year. A month or so later, we find out that she would be moving to Chicago. We did long distance for a year with multiple challenges along the way including the busy life of PT residency, Ariana studying for specialty boards, and the COVID lockdowns. We were able to thrive during those hurdles and eventually we moved in together in Chicago. In August 2021, I proposed to Ariana with family and friends present at the hotel/conference center that we decided to take a chance together.
