We're Getting Married

It’s always a young girl's dream to find a soulmate. There are countless movies and books romanticizing the moment a couple locks eyes and instantly... it’s love at first sight. But sometimes, love blooms like wildflowers, breathing life into unexpected places. And suddenly, you can't picture a life without that person. We were driving down I-75 one evening and Anna lovingly looked over at Joseph and asked “Do you believe in soulmates?”, silently praying he'd burst into a dramatic monologue about how he just knew she was the one. “No” he said confidently. Anna was both shocked and appalled by what she’d just heard. Not only was the answer completely wrong, but suddenly, I-75 seemed even less romantic than it had before. “How can you not believe in soulmates?” she shot back. “And honestly, I’m kind of offended you would not consider me a soulmate.” To be fair, Joseph had made some solid points about the unrealistic nature of soulmates. Although, a year passed— full of Mexican dinners, football games, cups of coffee, endless conversations and so much love shared between the two. They found meaningful ways to connect while overcoming life’s challenges. Every moment together rekindled the same butterflies they felt when they first met, a never ending honeymoon phase. Finally, out of the blue, Joseph finally revealed, "I think I might have to change my mind on the soulmate thing” And for those who don’t know Joseph, he does not easily change his mind. You never really understand the phrase "when you know, you know" until you meet your person. A soulmate is more than a instant connection or romcom fantasy. A lifetime together will never fully capture the gratitude for the incredible gift of falling in love with our best friend—the closest thing to a soulmate we could ever hope for. Here’s to building something far greater than ourselves!
