Wedding 2022

It's time to celebrate!

Family & friends, We are so grateful for all your love & support throughout our wedding journey. Oh what a journey it was! We couldn't have gotten through the last two years without each and everyone of you. We are so, so, so excited to finally share our special day in person with all of our loved ones. Our wedding on January 23, 2021 was beautiful & we are so glad we could share it with the few people that were able to be there. For us, our wedding is more than just about us but about each & every person who helped form us & show us what love is. We are so excited to be having our wedding celebration on January 22, 2022 & hope you can join us in celebrating love!

How it Started

It was Halloween in 2014, Josephine had unexpectantly come home for fall break and decided to go see Caitlin Stutzke, who she had met the previous summer at a Catholic summer camp, Hidden Lake in Georgia. The two hit it off and were glad after camp was over they could still hang out because Caitlin lived in LA and Josephine lived in Orange County. She was spending the day with Caitlin at her house, when her brother came up to work on WIF (a high school retreat put on by alumni from the HS) projects since their younger brother, Kevin was going on it the first time. While they all worked on WIF projects, Josephine and Matthew didn’t think much of each other. It wasn’t until the summer of 2015 that sparks flew.

Sparks Fly

Caitlin and Josephine had a mutual friend (now Sister Maria Consuela) who was visiting them in the summer of 2015. The girls spent the week showing her all around California, including a trip to Disneyland with the whole Stutzke family. Throughout the day, Josephine and Matthew rode several rides together and got to chatting. Sparks started to fly after that day but it wasn't until a few weeks later that things picked up. A few weeks later, after return from the drive in with the Stutzke Family, Matt asked Josephine out. It was a double date to see Phantom of the Opera, which would later be their third date. Josephine was hesitant, especially since she was going back to school in just two weeks but she ultimately agreed. Matthew decided to plan two more dates before that date. Their first date was at the Orange County fair, they spent hours in the art showcase and ate footlong corn dogs. They shared their first kiss on top of the ferris wheel. Their second date was at InCahoots, a local line dancing bar that Matthew had frequented since he was 18. They become officially boyfriend and girlfriend that night and the rest is history.

The Proposal

Every year around Christmas time, Josephine & Matt go out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate the season and slow down. They started his tradition since Josephine was going to school out of state and when she came home for Christmas break, it was hard for the couple to have some alone time among the hustle and bustle of the season. The Christmas of 2017 had come and gone but they never got to have their special meal, so Matthew suggested that they do a special New Year's Day brunch. He asked her 2 days before New Years, and she had no idea where it was going to be but she should dress up and wear something blue (her favorite color). On New Year's Day, they managed to leave the Stutzke household before anyone spoiled the surprise (cough, cough Caitlin). As they starting driving south, Josephine had no clue where they were going. They ended up at the Surf & Sand Hotel in Laguna Beach. Caitlin had called ahead as Matt's personal assistant to let them know that this wasn't any ordinary meal, that he would be proposing & he needed seats overlooking the ocean. As they enjoyed their meal, the very excited staff kept stopping by and making sure their meals were top notch. But to the staff's disappointment, Matt wasn't going to propose at brunch but along the beach. Kevin, Caitlin and their cousin Josh set up the perfect spot for Matt to pop the question but there was one problem... it was significantly further up the beach than what Matthew had planned. As the couple walked along the beach in search of a bakery that Matt claimed was "the best", Josephine started to grow suspicious but thanks to Matt's quick thinking she let her suspicion go. They finally arrived to the set up and as Josephine saw it she said, " wow look someone is getting engaged" little did she realize it was all for her. Matt got down on one knee & Josephine said a very excited and tearful yes. They are so excited to celebrate the start of their marriage with their family & friends!
