Mojácar

Spain

When in Mojácar, you have to check out the Pueblo (the old town). It’s a classic whitewashed hilltop village that looks like it’s straight off a postcard. Super charming, with narrow winding streets, cute little shops, and amazing views of the mountains and sea. A few tips: Parking can be tricky up in the Pueblo, so it’s usually best to park below and either walk up or take the lift. You don’t need a car, just hop on the yellow local bus from Mojácar Playa. It runs almost hourly, costs about €1.20 each way, and takes you from the beach up into the Pueblo. Super convenient! Wear comfy shoes, the streets are cobbled and a bit hilly, but it’s all part of the charm. Honestly, just wandering is the best. Grab tapas in Plaza Nueva, sip a coffee on a terrace, and soak up the atmosphere. Pueblo is one of those places that really sticks with you.

Interesting fact about Mojácar...

Mojácar Has a Mysterious Ancient Symbol: the Indalo The famous Indalo man, the prehistoric stick figure holding a rainbow, started as an ancient cave painting now a symbol of protection and good luck. He’s on every souvenir in town and tattooed on three members of Tuesday's family... see if you can spot them. Walt Disney Might Be From Mojácar (Or Not, But Let’s Pretend) Legend says Walt Disney wasn’t born in Chicago... no, no, he was actually born right here in Mojácar. Disney Studios even came to investigate. Did they find proof? Absolutely not. Will locals stop telling the story? Absolutely not. The Town That Faces East but Does Sunset Anyway Mojácar faces the wrong direction for sunsets… but still refuses to be left out. So the sky throws colour shows just because Mojácar is iconic like that.
