Having crossed paths several times throughout their high school years at Vietnamese Alliance Youth (VAY) summer camps, Stacey and Joseph didn't quite "meet" until VAY Camp 2022. Their first proper meeting was a 3 hour conversation in front of the campfire on the night before going home. They don't remember exactly what was said, but something went right... because the next day, they both Instagram DM'ed each other (Joseph hit send first ;D). Thus began their texting and calling streak every day until now! They prioritized each other throughout that busy summer, communicating constantly, hanging out with mutual friends, and attending cross-church events. Joseph asked Stacey if he could be her boyfriend on August 19, 2022 and... she said no! But the next day she called him and said yes. Aside from school breaks and holidays, they have been dating long-distance for almost 4 years. In that time, they've had many adventures together. They've driven all over California together: from Sacramento, to the Bay, SLO, Santa Barbara, LA, and OC. They've explored South Korea together with both their families. They've also served at Family Camps, VAY Winter Retreats, and VAY Summer Camps as cabin leaders! Throughout their time in undergrad, they held each other accountable to serving their respective churches. Stacey with Journey Christian Fellowship and AACF in Cal Poly SLO, and Joseph with Grace Community Church and Grace on Campus at UCLA. They've been blessed to see God working in both of their hearts as they immersed into ministry; Sunday school, musical worship, small groups, evangelism, and life-on-life discipleship. On January 17, 2026, on a cliff overlooking Laguna Beach, Joseph asked Stacey if he could be her fiance... and she said yes the first time! They are excited to enter into a covenant with God and become husband and wife this July. We hope to see you all there!
