In 2023, Joe and MaKenna met during their time interning together at Grand Park. They spent almost every day with each other at work, and sometimes outside of work, probably watching an MLB game. After the summer internship was over, Joe confessed his feelings to MaKenna and they became inseparable. They officially started dating on August 16, 2023. During their time together, they went to many football, basketball, and baseball games and did some traveling. Some of their favorite trips were to the Caribbean Islands, Colorado, & an impromptu Midwest baseball trip. On January 24, 2026, Joe finally popped the question. He contacted Abby, one of MaKenna's close friends, to keep her busy and away that Saturday morning. When she arrived back home, Joe had decorated the apartment with candles and pictures of the two of them. After sharing some words and tears, Joe got down on one knee and proposed, and the rest is history!
