Joseph and Maisie met in one of the most romantic settings you can think of… a frat party. More specifically, a “Risky Business” themed fraternity event. They had crossed paths a few times before this night but never had the opportunity to formally introduce themselves. Joseph had already labeled Maisie as his campus crush after first noticing her at college orientation three months earlier. The night of the party, they finally hit it off, even though Maisie initially introduced herself with the intention of setting Joseph up with her friend. Joseph didn’t even realize what she was doing, because he was too excited to finally have the chance to talk to her. From that moment on, it felt like they were inseparable. Joseph worked up the nerve to ask Maisie out in February 2023 at her “favorite restaurant” in El Paso (if you know, you know). Of course, she said yes, she was already head over heels for him and had been patiently waiting for him to make the move. That summer, they faced their first real challenge: long distance. Joseph returned home to Carlsbad, while Maisie went to Albuquerque. Despite the miles between them, the distance only brought them closer than they ever thought possible. When they returned to school, they continued to lead their Greek life organizations together, intertwining friend groups and creating memories that would last a lifetime. During the holidays, they spent time traveling between Albuquerque, Carlsbad, and Seattle, sharing special moments with each other’s families. Junior year of college proved to be one of the most testing and significant chapters of their relationship. In the fall, both Maisie and Joseph were elected presidents of their organizations, knowing this new responsibility would add stress to both their lives and their relationship. Then, in February of the spring semester, they received life-changing news: they were pregnant. Shock, excitement, and uncertainty filled the moment, they felt it all. In the midst of it, they sat down together and planned their future. They vowed that this baby was nothing less than a symbol of their everlasting love for one another. While it wasn’t how they imagined their year would unfold, it became the best thing that could have ever happened to them. They moved back to Albuquerque into Maisie’s childhood home, making the experience even more special. Joseph proposed June 27, 2025. He knew exactly what Maisie wanted, and planned the most special day for her, ending the evening surrounded by her family and friends. On October 11, 2025, they welcomed Saylor Adam Brown into the world. Maisie and Joseph have become incredible parents to baby Saylor, never leaving each other’s side. Their undeniable love has carried them so far already, and we cannot wait to watch them get married and continue building a beautiful life together.
