We met sometime in the winter of 2020 at Sylvan Way Church which we both attend; but that date is misleading. We may have met then, but didn't interact much outside of some casual conversation after service or at special events at the church. Our story really starts February of 2025, when my work had brought me to Japan for several months. Kirra was interested in Japan, and despite her normally shy nature, decided to go out on a limb and sent a facebook message to me. It started as a fairly simple back and forth where Kirra would ask questions and I would answer and ask about how life back at home was. These messages quickly grew; both in length and in scope of conversation, until they were near daily conversations that really helped us to get to know each other. This continued until I finally returned to Bremerton. Once back, we spent some time further getting to know each other; just in person this time! We went out to watch movies, went to the zoo to watch the penguins, and went out to dinner a few times before officially starting to date. Eventually the time came, and on one of the hottest days of the summer, I planned some time to go out for Ice Cream and go for a walk at Fish Park in Poulsbo where I finally kind of sort of asked Kirra to date. Despite apparently not actually asking her out, this officially started our dating relationship. We continued to go on dates to the movies, going to special events in Bremerton and Seattle, and generally just enjoying each other's company. Then on November 7th 2025, I brought Kirra back to Fish Park, but this time with a ring hidden in my pocket. I proposed in the same spot I initially asked her out (this time surrounded by tiny penguins and frogs) and when she said yes we went to downtown Poulsbo for a romantic dinner together.
