Kendall and Joe met at Washington University in St. Louis when their fraternity and sorority paired up to create a stage and play for the Thurtene Carnival. Even though Joe worked on construction and Kendall was in the play, their friendship was formed. In classic millennial fashion, Joe and Kendall reconnected on the dating app, Hinge. Kendall immediately recognized the goofy boy from ThurtenE and reached out to say, "Long time, no see!" They quickly caught up and planned a date. Day of, Kendall was reluctant to attend due to a huge snowstorm blocking roads. Like a gentleman, Joe put Kendall at ease by offering to pick her up in the snow (even though Kendall was skeptical of Joe's Subaru). Joe also charmed her by sharing videos of his dog, Ozzie, and cat, Merlin, out playing in the snow. They made it safely to their first date at Blue Duck and talked for hours. When Kendall had to leave to check on the cat she was looking after, Joe generously offered to accompany her. Their date continued to part three- watching a movie at Joe's place and meeting the adorable animals who had already won Kendall's heart. After finally parting, it was only a few hours into the next day when Joe stopped by Kendall's apartment with the excuse to drop off her leftovers from the evening before. He stayed the rest of the day, talking, laughing, and helping with chores. And the two have been inseparable ever since.
