The universe brought Joe and Julie together not once, but twice. The first was when Joe struck up a conversation with Julie one afternoon following a high school fencing tournament. The pair went their separate ways and were reunited that summer at University of Pennsylvania's high school fencing camp. Joe invited Julie and her bridesmaid Marney to sit with him and his friends at lunch. The journey truly began when Julie was entertained by Joe's disappointment with the cafeteria spaghetti. Their love grew as they spent every day together and talked on the phone at night. It wasn't until camp finished that they had their first date. Joe came to the front door where he met Julie's family and her dog, Max. As they were both too young to drive, Julie was greeted by Joe's entire family in their mini-van on the way to their first date. They shared Pizza at Lenny's, saw a movie at the Bernards theater, and finished the night with ice cream.

Every year, Julie and Joe pick fresh peaches at Alstede Farms in Chester, NJ and bake a homemade peach pie. In 2019, Julie and Joe started the tradition as they usually would, but this time Joe secretly had a ring in his pocket. When they arrived at the farm, Julie eagerly started to scope out the juicy, ripe peaches on the trees, while Joe was trying to spot the hidden photographer. As they walked through the orchard, Joe reminisced about their relationship, and before Julie could realize what was happening, he was down on one knee, asking her to spend the rest of her life with him. After taking a few moments to celebrate and pick a few more peaches, the two drove home, where they celebrated at a barbecue with family. This year's peach pie was sweeter than ever.
