Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Joseph MacLean and Elizabeth Ulrich
Here are some of our favorite spots in Detroit.

Eastern Market

1445 Adelaide St, Detroit, MI 48207

Eastern Market is the largest historic public market district in the United States. Eastern Market is a selling point for a wide variety of produce, meat, flowers, and other products. The Saturday Market at Eastern Market is open from 6 AM-4 PM.

Belle Isle

Sunset Dr., Detroit, MI 48207

Belle Isle is an island park in the Detroit River and is home to numerous attractions including the Belle Isle Aquarium, the Belle Isle Conservatory, and the James Scott Memorial fountain. The most beautiful view of the city is from Belle Isle’s Sunset Point.

Detroit Riverfront

300 Atwater Street, Detroit, MI 48226

The Detroit Riverfront extends from the Ambassador Bridge in the west to Belle Isle in the east for a total of 5.5 miles. Key public spaces include the Dequindre Cut, Hart plaza, and the Renaissance Center.

Dequindre Cut

Dequindre Cut Greenway, Detroit, MI 48207

The Dequindre Cut is the former Grand Trunk Western Railroad line that has been converted to a two-mile greenway that connects Eastern Market and the Detroit Riverfront.

Detroit Institute of Art

5200 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48202

The Detroit Institute of Art (DIA) is located in the Midtown neighborhood of Detroit and home to Diego Rivera’s Detroit Industry cycle of frescoes.

Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox

2100 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201

The Detroit Tigers will be playing a home series at Comerica Park against the Chicago White Sox on June 11th, 12th, and 13th.

West Village and Indian Village

8025 Agnes St., Detroit, MI 48214

West Village and Indian Village are two historic neighborhoods in Detroit. We recommend strolling the area after getting a coffee from Red Hook Coffee.

Apparatus Room

250 W Larned St, Detroit, MI 48226

The Apparatus Room is located in the lobby of the Detroit Foundation Hotel with a showcase on regional flavors in modern American dishes.

Wright & Company

1500 Woodward Avenue, Floor 2, Detroit, MI 48226

Wright & Company is located in the heart of downtown with panoramic views of Woodward. It was also the location of Joe and Liz’s first date!

Ima

2015 Michigan Avenue, Detroit, MI 48216

Ima, a prior Detroit Free Press Restaurant of the Year winner, is one of Joe and Liz’s favorites. They are frequent visitors to the Corktown location.

Mudgie's

1413 Brooklyn St., Detroit, MI

Mudgie’s is another favorite. Joe recommends ‘The Barrett’ sandwich, and Liz swears by ‘The Madill’ or ‘Honeybee Salad’.

Lafayette Coney Island

118 W Lafayette Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226

No trip to Detroit is complete without a coney dog, which is a hot dog topped with hot chili, onions, and mustard. Depending on who you ask, the best coney is found at either American Coney Island or Lafayette Coney Island. Try both to decide for yourself!

The Monarch Club

33 John R St, Detroit, MI 48226

The Monarch Club is located on the penthouse of the beautifully restored Metropolitan Building. This rooftop hideaway has one of the best views of the city.

The Skip

1234 Library St, Detroit, MI 48226

The Skip is a casual outdoor bar located within the Belt Alley, a public space that is home to murals and installations by local artists.
