It was December 2010. We were both working at the mall in Springfield, MO and Joe was working at a kiosk right outside Sephora where I was working. I would walk by and see him nearly everyday. I thought he was super cute and lots of looks flew across the counter. One particular snowy day, the mall wasn't very busy, and I saw Joe clowning around, jousting with a co-worker with their holiday Santa hats. I caught them playing around, and Joe made a move. He saunters over to me, as I was working as a door greeter, and he says, "Hey, what's up? Nice tool belt." I said something like "Oh thanks." From there I asked his name, and all he did was point to his name tag, leaving me to play a guessing game of sorts. I said, "Well, Joe Maddock, my name is Cara, " as I exaggeratedly pointed to my own name tag. Weeks of flirtations follow through the mall windows while we continued to work. One night i signed the ASL sign for "beautiful", which he did not know. When he asked me what that was, I playfully told him to figure it out. Well, it just so happens the next day, Joe had a hearing impaired customer, so he asked what the sign meant. From there, he knew that I liked him for sure. Then I threw not one, but two dinner parties to try to get to know Joe a little better outside of work simply because he couldn't make the first one, and I really liked him! At the second party, I got the courage to ask him out, but he beat me to it. From there, we had the most romantic date under a lunar eclipse, which led into an awesome week of dating, which then led into the most magical relationship either of us has ever had, and we've been together ever since. Now, 7 1/2 years later, we are making it official and becoming husband and wife! -Cara
