Ashlan was going to college at Montana State in Bozeman, MT and was celebrating her 22nd birthday when her Matron of Honor, Brooke, received a phone call from an old high school friend. This friend of hers named, Joe, was moving back to Montana after living in Washington since graduating and wanted to catch up. Brooke asked if it was alright if he stopped by and Ashlan said, "The more, the merrier!". They spent the rest of the weekend together and the rest is history!

While driving back home to Texas from Montana, Joe wanted to stop up on the Rims in Billings because it was one of his favorite spots in the city. Ashlan was hesitant to get out of the car once they parked because it was a cold, windy day. Joe insisted for her to get out of the car and take in the view with him, so she agreed. Once they were on top of the rocks, Joe started babbling and Ashlan immediately knew what he was about to do. Down on one knee, Joe popped the question and Ashlan, who was happily crying, said yes!
