How We Met

In 2016, I got a job at Bed Bath & Beyond. I was put on closing shift, which just so happened to be Joseph's shift as well. After months and months (and months) of laughing together at work, Joseph stirred up the courage to ask to hang out after our shift. Eating pizza or Cook Out in one of our cars and talking about our childhoods and dreams became a routine, and it felt like we could talk forever. Neither one of us actually asked the other to be their partner, all the pieces just fell into place and we both knew. From work friends to real friends to boyfriend and girlfriend, everything felt like home!

How I Said YES!

In June 2019, we took a trip to Gatlinburg, TN with Joseph's brother Jack and his girlfriend (now fiance!) Heather. We saw the mountains, did lots of shopping on the strip, and finally it was time to get ready for dinner. Jack and Joseph had gotten reservations at a nice steakhouse, so we got all dressed up, but first we were going to see the stingray dive show at Ripley's Aquarium. I LOVE aquariums, and probably annoyed the crap out of everyone with my fish facts as we went through the exhibits. As we were sitting and watching the diver feed the stingrays, I was on the edge of my seat soaking up every tidbit about stingrays I could from the announcer. Near the end of the show the announcer says "we've got time for a little trivia game, any volunteers?" and he picks.... Joseph?? We walk up to the tank to kick some trivia butt, and Joseph suggests I go first. The announcer tells me to face the tank and close my eyes, and on his cue to open them to start the trivia. When my eyes open the diver in the tank has a sign up to the glass that states "Out of all the fish in the sea, you're the one for me." and I immediately whip around to Joseph and say "You are NOT right now!" he points to the tank where the diver has flipped over the sign to read "Veronica, will you marry me?" and I turn back to see Joseph on one knee! The crowd erupted in applause as he put the ring on my finger, and we proceeded back to our seats where I cried ugly, happy tears as people came up to congratulate us. I can't wait to spend my life as a Fogle with this sweet and thoughtful man!
