Joseph first caught my attention while we were cleaning up the beach in an effort to get it ready for campers. Although we were both returning to SpringHill Camp for the summer, we had never met. That day on the beach we realized we had a mutual friend, Sarah, and the three of us sat and talked for a long time talking about Jesus while pulling weeds. I didn't know it yet, but I'd soon find out that Joseph and I had much more in common than a fantastic friend. Fast forward to the end of the summer and you'd likely have found us doing Bible study together at 7th Street or hanging out with one of Joseph's campers. By the time staff banquet rolled around more than one person had asked if we were an item, although in my eyes we definitely were not. That being said, Joseph would tell you we had gone on our first date the day before, so I guess it's a matter of opinion. Regardless, his presence was a welcome calm in the storm of a chaotic summer after a difficult year; as hard as I tried I couldn't find it in myself to keep my distance. We ended the summer promising to see each other before 2018- we didn't even make it three weeks. -Bailey After a short while, I found myself longing deeply to see Bailey again. So, after a trip to see my close friend Ethan, I made up the excuse that Indianapolis was on my way home to Edwardsburg, Michigan from Columbus, Ohio (It isn't, seriously look at a map, it is very far out of the way). The extra distance didn't stop me, even from the beginning. My appreciation of Bailey's kind soul and love of Christ has drawn me to her for many seven-plus hour solo road trips. I decided that no amount of time alone in the car was deterrent enough to not see Bailey. Over the last two years, we have supported each other through our senior years of college, moving to new cities, and three graduation ceremonies. On May 22nd, I took Bailey to see the sunset in the Great Smoky Mountains where I proposed marriage. She said YES! -Joseph
