We first met in 2014 when one of our friends invited Joseph to an NYCYPCD recording session in LA. Joseph only knew one person there, but he quickly was introduced to Allison, her brother, and her dad. We quickly became friends through the recording sessions, which took place every summer and winter.

When we first met, Joseph was in a Bible School called the Full-Time Training in Anaheim. He graduated in the summer of 2015, and then Allison started the program the following fall (of 2015). So we didn't overlap - when Joseph came out, Allison went in. Through these 4 years we still saw each other often and attended the NYCYPCD recordings. During these recording sessions, it seemed like nothing extraordinary was happening, but we were becoming very comfortable with each other. We would often catch each other's eye and have silent conversations across the room, but neither of us thought much of it.

By September 2017, Joseph had moved to Chicago, finished Grad School, and started working. Allison had just graduated the FTTA, and was working and serving part-time in NYC. In September there was a need to finish recording another CD, so both Joseph and Allison went to LA to record for a weekend. Allison: I promise my dad had no idea what he was doing asking for us both to be there, but while we were practicing and recording, I started to realize that I had some feelings for Joseph. As we stood next to each other rehearsing our harmonies, I found myself wanting to stand closer to him. And when he caught my eye during the session, I started to have butterflies! When these feelings came up I immediately brought them to the Lord and started to open to Him concerning my future husband.

Joseph: I had been talking to Lord about my future wife for a while now. In December 2017, as I was considering going to LA for yet another recording session, Allison's name came up in my prayers. I realized that I was looking forward to seeing her, and that these feelings had been building up over the last 4 years. I went that weekend with the intention of finding out if she liked me too. Through our interactions and conversations, it seemed like her feelings were mutual. We started texting after leaving California, and got to know each other a little more. When I realized something was beginning, we opened up to an older brother for fellowship and prayer as our courtship began.

Joseph: Within the first couple of weeks, I became clear through our conversations and prayers together. I already felt comfortable with her, and as we spent more time together, I fell in love with her very quickly. I realized that she complimented me in more ways than I had imagined. In my spirit I felt peace from the Lord, and in my heart I felt that she was the one. Allison: Joseph was pretty clear early on, but for me it took a bit longer. One defining characteristic of the early months of our courtship is that I was extremely comfortable. I felt like I could be myself, even if I said something weird or not funny, I didn't feel embarrassed to be exactly who I was. Slowly but surely, through our conversations over the phone and multiple visits to NYC and Chicago, I realized that Joseph was the answer to many of my prayers throughout the years and that we fit together seamlessly. Ephesians 3:20-21 "To Him who is able to do superabundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power which operates in us, To Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all the generations forever and ever. Amen." We're so excited to celebrate the beginning of this next chapter of our lives with you all!
