How we met

7/29/2011

It was July, 2011 when Taylor and Joe attended a high school friend, Lindsey's birthday get together in New Milford, CT. Over cheese pizza, Taylor and Joe chatted with their friends and then headed to the movies to see 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' An amazing chick flick by the way. While seats were limited in the theater, Joe volunteered to sit away from the girls. Instead, Taylor called for Joe to sit next to her. Making the first move. The two traded blackberry pins over ice cream cones. Joe bbm'd Taylor and asked her out to dinner for the next weekend. From then on, the two were inseparable... Visiting each other's towns, eating burritos, swimming and driving around the windy roads of Connecticut. High school romance at its best.

The Proposal

11/8/2019

"No, no, no, no." Those were Taylor's first words she whispered while trying to catch her breath. I thought I did everything right... I asked my high school friend and amazing illustrator, Jessie Price, to create ten illustrations to represent most of the years and crazy adventures we've been on. They came out great and I used the illustrations to make a book. Then I reserved a table at our favorite Italian restaurant, Erminia Ristorante, which is owned by a family friend of my late grandparents. The night of the engagement, I cleaned the apartment, dressed nicely, and asked Taylor if we should bring the Polaroid camera. Taylor (a natural born criminal minds detective) knew something was up but was kind enough to go a long with my suspicious behavior. With a huge bulge in my jacket pocket from the ring and the Polaroid camera in hand, Taylor and I decided to walk through Central Park from the Upper West Side to the Upper East Side. Once we got to the Upper East Side, we stopped at The Penrose for some cocktails and talked about our life together. Then after a few drinks and some shots of the Polaroid, we headed to Erminia. I didn't know exactly when I would propose, but I decided it should be after we eat the truffle gnocchi (our favorite dish). Once finished, I reached into my jacket pocket and took out the ten illustrations and showed each one to Taylor. The last one was of our engagement which was happening in real time. I asked Taylor to marry me...and well, you know, she said "No, no, no, no." Thankfully, I've known Taylor long enough to know that this meant yes, but to be on the safe side, I asked her again, and this time she said "yes!"
