Megan grew up in Wisconsin dreaming of the day when she would move down south to become a Chiropractor and maybe fall in love with a southern gentleman who would share her love of all things nerdy. Meanwhile in Georgia, Jose (a self-proclaimed nerd) worked in IT, had an amazing little girl named Emma, and waited for the day when he would meet a girl he could bring into their lives. But what hope do two introverted nerds have of meeting in this day and age? Enter Bumble, the app that introduced our couple to each other. Once the two met and began talking, Jose invited Megan to a trivia night at a bar/restaurant called Battle and Brew. Megan recalls the night as "the perfect first date". They talked and laughed, ate delicious food and played video games. Megan kicked Jose's a** at Mario Kart, which he must have found endearing because it didn't stop him from asking for a second date. After a few wonderful months, Megan met Emma, and the two bonded easily over a shared love of Star Wars, Disney, mermaids, and became fast friends. Having zero experience with kids, Megan was surprised at how quickly and easily she came to love Emma. And now the three of them cannot wait to celebrate the love they all share and to officially become a family. <3
At the North Georgia Zoo, there is an Otter Splash experience where you can interact with 2 Asian small-clawed river otters, Noah and Rainbow. Otters just so happen to be my (Megan's) favorite animal. Jose had taken me to this experience once before and it was amazing. We were with a group of people and we got to go into their enclosure, do a few tricks with them (they're really into handing you toys and taking them back with their tiny otter hands), and then we go into a pool and swim around with them as they do more cool tricks for fish treats. However, this time Jose said we were going for a private experience so it would just be the two of us, which I didn't think anything of because anyone who knows Jose can tell you he is rather anti-social. Little did I know that he made sure it was just us for a whole different reason! As we were in the enclosure and Rainbow was doing a trick where she pulled a ball out of a toy mailbox, out of the corner of my eye I saw that the "ball" in the mailbox was tiny, square, black, and looked suspiciously like a box to hold jewelry. My breath caught as I realized what was happening, and I bent down as Rainbow handed me a ring box with a note inside. I cried as I read the words my soon-to-be-fiance had written, and then when I looked up he got on one knee and asked, "Will you?" and I said "YES! I'm gonna marry you so hard!!" We laughed and kissed and cried together, and I freaked out for the rest of the day. (Tbh, I'm still freaking out.)
