Jasmine and I met at one of our favorite hang out spots downtown, I remember the first time I noticed her she was with a small group of friends having drinks and dancing the night away. I initially did not make a move it was the other way around. Jasmine saw as I walked by and grabbed my arm to get my attention, I was quite surprised that she grabbed my arm and in shock and disbelief I just uttered “whoa” and walked away. I know, I know I should’ve said something but I might have been nervous, after this night Jasmine and I kept showing up to the same spot and every weekend I was trying to build the courage to talk to her. After months of deliberation I finally had enough courage built up to try and get her attention so I used her move I grabbed her arm as she walked by to get her attention she looked at me smiled and kept walking past me, to say I was embarrassed is the least; but I was determined to talk to her. After the closing of the establishment where we were at I was on the hunt for her, I was not letting another night pass without knowing what her name was at least. I was in the middle of the road facing to my left something in me said turn around, I looked to my right and at that moment she turned around also almost as if she was looking for me as well, we locked eyes at that moment and I nodded my head and said with a grin on my face “ come here” thinking I was smooth, she then responded “you come here” with a smile that could light up a room. Of course I immediately walked over to her both of us with excitement in our eyes and the biggest cheesiest smiles on our faces, I lean into her and ask what’s your name she says “Jasmine, what’s yours” I said “Jose” and. Lean in for a kiss on her lips, she surprisingly let me give her a kiss, and that’s how I met my soulmate.

I remember the day I decided I wanted to propose to Jasmine I had the “God I want to be with this woman forever” feeling. I mean Jasmine from the day we started dating was someone who always catered to me and those she loved most, I knew that she only did this for those who she felt love from and wanted to make feel special. She has always been someone who’s in-tuned with her emotions which is one of her best qualities, she loves genuinely and she loves hard. After finding out that we were expecting our beautiful daughter Avery I was certain of marrying Jasmine my Family was coming together and it was something I yearned for. I recall the day I scrambled everywhere to find “THE RING” it had to be perfect for the most amazing woman, something that showcased my love for her and my appreciation for being the woman I always asked God for, the Morning of the proposal I was nervous it was Jasmine’s birthday and we had planned to spend some time with her mother (my mother-in-law) we had lunch at Jasmine’s favorite seafood spot and then we came back home. After my mother in law left several hours later I asked Jasmine if she’d like to have dinner somewhere and she said yes, we drove to her restaurant of choice and this is when things got real. We ordered dinner then we ordered desert and in between all of this I was calculating my perfect timing which did not go as planned. Our server for the evening kept coming to check on us which was nice but I was there for business and he kept coming back to check the on us, thinking about it now it’s a funny memory. Once I had the perfect chance I asked Jasmine if she knew that I loved her and how much I loved her and she said she did and following that I said “then I assume you would say yes if I asked you to be my wife” as I said those words I see the glare of joy in her eyes I pulled the ring out of my pocket and got on one knee and said “would you marry me” her excitement took over and tears ran down her cheeks as she said yes and in that moment everything stopped and was perfect, as we celebrated the servers at the restaurant came out singing happy birthday to Jasmine with a desert treat for her. I could never forget that day it was the best day for us we cried we laughed we loved.
