It was on the first day of biomedicine in 2015. Raf had just gotten off the 7AM 906 and was trying to navigate his way to Melbourne Uni. It was on Exhibition Street that Raf saw a girl looking just as confused and lost as he was. As he continued walking, he realised she was walking in the exact same direction as he was, and seizing the opportunity made his smooth introduction "Hey! Are you... in biomed?!" Jos was a bit shocked at first with Raf's loud and abrupt introduction - but being one to never turn away a friendly face, Jos replied “Yea! How did you know?” They soon ended up talking and they've been inseperable since.
I soon learned that Jos and I both shared the same one-hour bus ride to uni. Those 906 bus rides would become our regular catch-ups, where we would debrief about life, share awkward stories, and incessantly roast each other (mostly Jos roasting Raf). I would light up when I saw Jos get on the 906 because that one hour with Jos would be the best hour of my day. Then finally, after 3 years, I finally mustered the courage to ask Jos out when she was over to watching our obsession at the time, "Stranger Things" and we've been in separable ever since!
Fast forward after 5 years of dating, Raf and I had been through 2 university degrees, internship, COVID, and DIY home renovations. To celebrate the end of our internship, Raf planned a Europe trip extraganza. After roaming numerous romantic castles and country sides, we found ourselves in the remote town of Hallstatt, nestled within the Austrian alps. I remember roaming these cute cottage streets one morning in a state of bliss, Raf had planned a walk up a mountain, but I kept getting distracted by pretzels and mulled wine. Raf was trying to guide us somewhere, but I was more interested in by my eyes and nose. Eventually, Raf had managed to manoeuvre us away from the sweet treats and up to a quiet mountain-top, and just as the rays of morning light emerged onto the powdered white snow, he got onto one knee. Of course, I said 'YES!' and the rest is history!
