We Fell in Love

They found each under flashing lights. Both were unaware that one dance would lead to a decade of friendship, laughter, and love. Taking a chance on the dance floor with a stranger built a foundation for an amazing family. We brought the best parts of ourselves into this relationship and were blessed enough to find acceptance, understanding, and structure.

The Proposal

12/31/2021

Setting: Hawaii, vacation with Rebecca’s family Time: 6:30 am It started with morning cardio. An unknowing Bride set out to enjoy her hour on the treadmill at 4:30 am hawaiian time. She returned to their beach front hotel room at 6:00 am while texting her family about morning breakfast. Which was scheduled for 7:00 am, as the Treber and Carter tribe love a planned meal. The groom inquired on the proposed schedule and requested a morning hike to Black Rock before breakfast. The Bride agreed as Black Rock is an extraordinary ecosystem living on volcanic rock formations. Nature? Rocks? Wild life? Hiking? Yes, she was down. With about 45 minutes to hike the two began to prepare for their adventure, to which the Groom suggested “babe, wear something nice to breakfast”. The unknowning bride replied “ummm, okay” *note the dots have not connected. She simply is confused why dressing nice for breakfast is required.

The Proposal part 2

The pair set out for their adventure, following the beautiful garden walkway leading to the beach. With morning clouds overhead and the sound of ocean waves crashing the two held hands as they made their way to Black Rock. The ocean waves are calm, but as they crash on the rocks and the morning birds sing, there is a sense of calm and the morning tide is beginning its resend into the great abyss. The Groom suggests that filming the ocean and rocks would be nice, to which the bride agrees and lends her phone for use. Being a mountain girl, the bride begins her hike onto Black Rock. Finding beautiful sea creatures including a crab, but as she turns back to the groom, he is still on the sandy beach. The Bride returns to the Groom’s side with a smile and hands on her hips. Standing like her father with an inquisitive look. The Groom says “I would like to read something to you that I wrote on the plane”. Now the exact details of this reading will forever be a secret, but the general statement from the Groom outlined the family the two had built, their fur-children, and their love for each other. In the decade the two had known each other, this reading was by far the most emotional, transparent, and romantic moment for the pair. After multiple hugs and tears, the Groom got down on one knee with a ring. Asking the Bride to be his one and only forever.
