A long long time ago on a dating app far far away… A small town girl with the self proclaimed perfect combination of sugar, spice, and a dash of sass managed to catch the eye of a city boy who was thrilled to be matched with a real person and not a robot. There were a few days of chatting back and forth before she got tired of waiting for him to make the next move and took matters into her own hands by getting their conversation out of the DMs. A few months of chatting go by. Her, feeling this guy out to make sure he isn’t a weirdo, him, still not sure how to make the next move (a trend that will absolutely continue). Then finally, a first date happens. Not important about who led the effort but lets just say, he wouldn’t know how to take a hint even if it was standing right in front of him. Their first date was one for the ages, she met him down in Lincoln, because as she so delicately put it “if you were weird it would be a lot easier for me to just leave than try to kick you out.” Things got off to a hot start with Mario Kart on the wii where he sat as far away from her as possible to try not to give off any creepy vibes and THANKFULLY, he passed the vibe check, and the date continued. Eventually, they made their way to campus where he gave her a tour of Architecture Hall and showed off what he was working on for his classes. She politely nodded along like a parent when their kid is showing off the cool rock they found (another trend that will absolutely continue). The tour of campus ended with a dinner date at the Old Chicago that was located in the Haymarket, he was so nervous that he was only able to take a few bites of his burger, no doubt frustrating her because she hadn’t eaten all day!) and then back to the casa where they chatted into the night. As she was leaving, she made sure to drop the not so subtle hint that “we should definitely do this again” because there was no way he was going to know how to ask her if she actually had a good time. A few more dates go by, she meets his parents, things are moving at the speed of light. Next thing you know, it’s new years eve in 2019 and they rang in the new year at his parents house. There’s just one problem, he’s yet to officially ask her to be his girlfriend. She was a good sport and patiently waited until 1am on January 1st, 2020 where he finally popped the question in the driveway as she was going to leave. These two were such a force to be reckoned with that a mere 4 months into dating the whole world was forced to shut down to try and keep them under control. Luckily for the story, it only brought them closer and fostered a relationship that tinder should be proud to sponsor, we are still waiting for them to reach out for an interview.
