The Swan & Fischer families have a rich history, dating back to the early 1990's. Cheryl & Brad Swan, Jill & Cliff Fischer had quite the extensive friend group that occasionally intertwined throughout those years. Believe it or not, Charlie & Jordyn met when they were as young as 6 years old and that is EXACTLY where the term "love at first sight" came from (completely kidding, they were around each other at that age, but they were certainly more interested in Bop-It, CandyLand, & Disney movies) That's technically where it all started, but let's fast forward to 2018. Charlie returned back from traveling in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia after 2+ years abroad. Jordyn finished up her stellar career at UW-Milwaukee, got her masters, and was being the responsible young adult pursuing her career and living in Milwaukee. Charlie & Jordyn's paths crossed again via Bumble. For those who don't know what Bumble is, it's an online dating app that allows the woman to dictate which men she allows to talk to her, go on dates with, etc. Charlie was lucky enough that Jordyn allowed him to message her. 1st Date September 2018 - Charlie & Jordyn chatted for a couple days on Bumble, and both determined it was time to sit down, interact like adults, and go to dinner at Belfre Kitchen in downtown Delafield. Dinner went great, it was cordial, easy to chat, and they had a great time. Charlie, although he claimed to enjoy dinner, decided to "ghost" (no longer engage, respond, reach out) to Jordyn for a couple of months. Jordyn was confused, she thought it went great, but she didn't lose much sleep over it and boom. First date in the books! 2nd Date July 2020: Charlie and Jordyn occasionally stayed in touch between these two times. However, they did not see each other for quite awhile. Quite a bit happened between the first and second date. The world was in the midst of a pandemic, they were nervous about their jobs, their health, their safety, etc. But for whatever reason, that did not stop them from breaking all the COVID-19 protocols and going on another date. This time, to the infamous golf course in Oconomowoc, WI... Paganica Golf Club. Charlie is still not the best golfer out there, but when he golfed with Jordyn it certainly gave him the confidence boost he needed. Charlie and Jordyn clicked here. Everything made sense. Everything felt right... normal.... easy... romantic... so much so this is where they had their first kiss on the 6th hole (Par 5 Tee box to be exact, with the slight dog leg left, if you know you know). This date is where everything took off. 3rd Date (Kinda?) - Charlie and Jordyn were both invited to a mutual wedding. For whatever reason, they both went with their own date. Luckily, they were not seated at the same table during dinner and speeches. However, the distance between them and the constant eye contact created a form of tension that they both couldn't resist. They ended up chatting as the night progressed, danced to the fast songs and the slow ones, and felt a bond that continued to grow stronger with each day passing. Ever since that wedding, they talked, FaceTimed, hung out, texted, and couldn't get enough of each other. Jordyn was always over at Charlie's condo or Charlie was always over at her house, meeting the family and coming to holiday events. Although they didn't live together for the last couple years, they took plenty of big strides together (Getting engaged AND moving into their first home ON THE SAME DAY). Talk about a day to remember!! Their story is unique, a lot of time connecting, followed by some days, months, even YEARS in-between talking. Their love is almost magnetic and somehow, someway, they were always drawn back to each other. Now that they live together and are committing each other to one-another for the rest of their lives, that force, their love, is keeping them together today and will forever.
On the morning of November 15, 2023 Charlie and I closed on our first home together in Oconomowoc. Driving home from the title company we stopped at my mom's house to grab our packed up trailers to officially start the move! If you know me, I immediately wanted to change into my sweats and sweatshirt to be "comfy" for a full day of moving but Charlie insisted we stayed in our "nicer" clothes to take a picture in front of the new house. Though the thought of a proposal crossed my mind this day, I thought it was too obvious it'd happen...well I was wrong. We pulled up to the house, Charlie and our realtor/family friend Kevin, were standing in the driveway impatiently waiting for me to get out of my car. I was on the phone with my boss and Charlie was throwing his hands up like, "What's taking you so long!?" When the boss calls....you answer. We entered the house and there was a box sitting there Charlie had for me as a housewarming gift, as I opened the box it was a canvas picture that had "Home Sweet Home" written across the top with the coordinates of our new house and on the bottom read Fischer Family. It was in that moment I turned around and my future husband was on one knee, Kevin to my right videoing this special moment and the rest is history!
