Now I would like to begin this story with how we met in a college class as freshmen and made awkward eye contact, only to pass notes until Joe (me) finally asked Jordyn out on a date. But that's far from what happened. Let's go back to freshman year at Concordia. Jordyn was a cross country runner and I was a football player. Fall sports athletes moved in early, and this sounds like another good place for us to meet, right? Wrong. In fact now that I think of it, we never even talked to each other. Not once! Funny enough, some of Jordyn's best friends were friends of mine and even though I would hang out with them, Jordyn and I never crossed paths. Jordyn claims she knew of Joe Krier as a "super cool guy" that everyone knew of. But I didn't see it that way. Coming from a laid back and quiet guy (and very angelic might I add) , I did my own thing and she did hers. Now Jordyn and I had other relationships throughout college and found our own friends, made our own memories, and partied hard. Just kidding, that was just Jordyn. But still, we were Facebook friends, and I continued to wish her, along with everyone else on my friend list, a happy birthday each year, thinking nothing of it. Of course I could go on with the highs and lows of dating in your 20s, but let's fast forward to April of 2023. With Jordyn having failed miserably on Christian Mingle, and me swinging and missing on Bumble, we both came across each other on Hinge - "the dating app designed to be deleted." Jordyn sent me the first "like" and I quickly went to do the most logical thing I could do - creep on her Instagram to see what she had been up to since college. I decided to give her a chance and started talking to her. And dang. We hit it off. She was on a trip in Denver at the time, so the talking was sporadic, but when we did, it was nonstop about who we are and what we wanted in life. Turns out it was the exact same thing. Jordyn decided our first date should be at Calderone Club in Milwaukee, full of hope that this date could go well, and possibly not even suck. (Her friends had a first date there and ended up married so she was hoping for some good vibes.) Turns out that was a good call. After some great food and drinks, Jordyn was convinced that she was going to marry me. Like she actually told me that too (I'm told to mention here that this was after a couple glasses of wine - lightweight!). But ever since that day, we continued to grow with each other and learn from each other. Jordyn made it clear that church was a big part of her life, and I'm happy to say it's a part of mine again too! She pushes me to grow every day, and I push her to be on time more often... still working on that! So finally, that brings me to now. After several great months of travels, laughs, and many memories, I proposed in a nice Hallmark Christmas movie worthy manner at Enchant Christmas Maze at Franklin Field - a perfect mix of surprise like Jordyn wanted and super cheesy like I wanted. And here you are, reading our story on our wedding website. We can't wait for the next big memory of our wedding and having you all there to celebrate with us. Joe
