Question

COVID-19 Protocols

Answer

We are requiring that all guests be vaccinated to attend our wedding. When you RSVP, please also email a photo of your vaccine card to: jordyandrach@gmail.com. You MUST bring your vaccine card to New Orleans and the wedding. The city of New Orleans is checking for vaccine card or negative covid test within 48 hours at every restaurant, bar, shop, venue, etc. (a photo of BOTH SIDES of your vaccine card is permissible).

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Guests should arrive around 6:00 pm for the 6:30 ceremony start time. We will have welcome drinks and music -- so come and enjoy!

Question

Are young kids welcome?

Answer

We love your kids, but the ceremony and reception will be adults only. If your kids will be with you in New Orleans, please reach out to Rachel to connect you with a babysitter -- she knows many in the area and would be happy to help set that up.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail, please. You do you, though -- it's New Orleans!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes.

Question

Is there parking at Il Mercato?

Answer

No -- Il Mercato is located right on Magazine Street, and is a pretty busy part of town.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

We will not be having a sit-down dinner -- we are having a station-style reception with many food options, so we will try to have options for everyone!

Question

What is a second line?

Answer

Grab your drink, a hanker-chief to wave, and get ready to dance! We will have a few pedi-cabs hired if you are physically unable to walk the 5 or 6 blocks. The second line should be about 20 minutes. From New Orleans.com: There are two parts to a second line. The first line is made up of the grand marshal or parade leader, the band, and whoever is being honored. In a jazz funeral, the family and the hearse are part of the first line. In a wedding, the bride, groom and wedding party take a position up front. The strutting revelers who fall in behind are referred to as the second line. The leaders of the parade carry decorated umbrellas, while the other participants shake handkerchiefs while they dance. A brass band plays some beats that gets everyone dancing and moving. You can often spot the second-line by bright colored suits and banners. Feel free to search for examples on YouTube!
