From the groom's perspective: I was heading down to Lantana, Florida for my behavioral health rotation. Accompanied by two friends and fellow classmates, Bobby and Nick, we had every intention on taking a break from the more rigorous and time-consuming rotations. I thought we were having the time of our lives until February 12th, 2018. This big-smiling, squinty-eyed girl in a burgundy dress strolls into the room, and my mind became consumed with strategies on how to introduce myself. As fate would have it, I was assigned to pass along one of my current patients to Heather. We introduced ourselves, exchanged banter, and unknowingly laid the foundation for daily conversations for the rest of our lives. Two days passed of stealing glances and sending gifs, and conveniently enough, we found ourselves at Valentine's Day. I made an attempt for her to be my date through a 'check yes or no' note (she did not check yes). We go out as a group. A margarita or two were drank, and next thing you know, Heather flashes me her kissy eyes, grabs my face, and lays one on me. Late Miami nights, sunburned Fort Lauderdale beach days and Haitian cuisine parties proceeded over the next 10 days. Our lives took us back to our respectful states halfway across the country. Every decision thereafter was based around how to get back together.
From the bride's perspective: I went down to Lantana, Florida for my behavioral medicine rotation with every intention of focusing on myself and having some relaxation amidst the craziness of Physician Assistant clinical rotations. They say you find "the one" when you least expect it... Well I certainly wasn't expecting him to be in a drug and alcohol rehab center of all places! The first day on the job all of us students were sitting in a big room together and I remember seeing Jordon. His deep voice sounded Canadian and he had some nice blonde flow so I immediately thought he was a hockey player, which I liked (turns out the accent was North Dakotian and I knew more about hockey than he did). He had to transfer over one of his patients to me so we exchanged information and from that point on, we were the objects of each other's affections. I remember noticing how good he was with the struggling adolescents in the program. I saw his kindness and how family-oriented he was. A few days later he not-so-subtlety handed me a Valentine (right in front of one of my patients who called me out on it!) and we found ourselves out for a group dinner that night. Jordon has always been the funniest guy in the room to me. This night was no different. He swept me off my feet and has been making me laugh each and every day since. The rest is history!
