If you had told Jonathan and Jordan that their love story would begin with butter chicken, they probably would’ve laughed. But looking back now, it makes total sense. They first met at a dinner party where Jonathan was cooking his famous (and very top-secret) butter chicken recipe. Their mutual friend Laura invited Jordan, who didn’t know a single soul there besides Laura. She was a little nervous, but curious... and honestly, mostly in it for the food. At first, Jonathan thought Jordan seemed a little chaotic (in the most endearing way), while Jordan was immediately intrigued by the quiet guy making sarcastic jokes under his breath. She remembers sitting backwards in a chair (classic Jordan) and catching one of those jokes and thinking, “Wait, that’s actually really funny.” The spark was quiet but real. Fast forward to Laura’s wedding reception—yes, that Laura—and the spark turned into full-on fireworks. Jonathan and Jordan spent the entire evening talking, laughing, and flirting in their own perfectly awkward way, like they were the only two people in the room. Naturally, it turned into a competition. They played darts. Jordan hit a bullseye and thought she had it won—until Jonathan hit two in a row. He hasn’t let her forget it since.
Not long after that, Jonathan was at a car show with his grandpa, Danny, when he sent a message to the group chat about Rocket Pop mimosas—Jordan’s favorite popsicle flavor. Coincidence? Fate? Either way, it led to their first official date. They met at Cracker Barrel (yes, really), which happened to be running a Rocket Pop mimosa special—clearly meant to be. What was supposed to be a quick breakfast turned into a five-hour conversation. Jordan texted a friend afterward saying, “I don’t even know if he likes me.” Her friend replied: “Jordan. Your date was FIVE hours long. He absolutely likes you.” As their connection deepened, they found themselves falling into a rhythm that felt like home. Eventually, Jordan asked, “So… when are you going to ask me to be your girlfriend?” Jonathan, in his classic honest way, said, “Wait... I didn’t know I had to ask.” (He now knows better) A week later, he showed up with flowers and officially asked. Jordan immediately texted everyone.
The following years were full of concerts, spontaneous road trips, inside jokes, chaotic adventures, and unforgettable memories. Jonathan once waited 15 hours in a ticket queue to get Taylor Swift tickets for Jordan—yes, 15 hours. And after a year of dating, Jordan finally earned the ultimate sign of trust: the top-secret butter chicken recipe. That’s when everyone knew it was serious.
On May 4th, 2024 (yes, Star Wars Day), Jonathan surprised Jordan with a proposal. He took her to a Star Wars symphony concert at LHUCA, and after the show, right in the middle of the lobby, he got down on one knee. Jordan was so shocked she announced to the whole room that she was about to vomit—then quickly followed it with a very enthusiastic yes. After the proposal, they walked into a surprise dinner at BJ’s, where friends and family were waiting to celebrate. It was perfect.
Jonathan and Jordan knew they wanted Jonathan’s grandfather, Danny, to be at their wedding. So, on September 1st, 2024—exactly two years after their first date—they got married. Secretly. Just the two of them, their families, and one dear friend from each side. Danny Kitten prayed over them and blessed them as husband and wife in a deeply emotional and intimate ceremony. In early 2025, Danny passed away. He was such an important part of their lives and their love story, leading by example in his own marriage to Petra. They remain endlessly grateful that he was there to bless the beginning of their marriage. His presence is still deeply felt in their hearts and in their home.
Their first year of marriage hasn’t been perfect—but it’s been theirs. Full of laughter, adventure, unexpected transitions, deep joy, some heartbreak, and a whole lot of love. Through it all, they’ve walked side by side. Now, Jonathan and Jordan are thrilled to finally celebrate with all of you—the people who’ve cheered them on, loved them well, and supported them through every twist and turn. Thank you for being part of their story. The best is still ahead.
