FAQs

Question

Your Registry only has 2 cash funds, why is that?

Answer

Alex and I are very fortunate to have already been filling our home with household items for years. We both understand what a financial and time commitment it is to come to West Texas - please only give to the funds if you feel moved to do so. Your presence with us in the celebration is the perfect gift!

Question

What is Rodeo Glam?

Answer

"Rodeo Glam" in Terlingua is a vibe that sits right at the intersection of Dolly Parton and rugged desert chic. Since Terlingua is a ghost-town-turned-art-colony near Big Bend, the "glam" part is essential for a wedding, but the "rodeo" part needs to handle the dust and gravel. Think: Sparkle, Fringe, and Dirt-Proof Footwear. The Golden Rule: Choose Your Boots Wisely Terlingua is not the place for stilettos. Between the prickly pear cacti and the rocky terrain, your footwear needs to be functional. Do: Cowboy boots (classic or bedazzled), chunky-heeled Chelsea boots, or high-end leather loafers. Don't: Thin heels or white satin shoes you aren't prepared to ruin. For the Ladies: "High-Fashion Ranch" The goal is to look like you’re headed to the Grand Ole Opry, but you might have to climb into a Jeep later. Fabrics: Denim (distressed or dark wash), suede, leather, and silk. The "Glam" Element: Sequins, metallic fringe, or rhinestones. A sequined mini-skirt paired with a vintage denim button-down is a classic move. Silhouettes: Tiered maxi dresses, wrap dresses with western embroidery, or high-waisted "Mom" jeans with a tucked-in bodysuit. Accessories: Felt wide-brim hats (Stetson style), turquoise jewelry, and statement belts with oversized buckles. For the Gents: "The Rhinestone Cowboy" Think modern Texas oilman meets rockstar. The Base: A crisp pearl-snap shirt (denim, plaid, or solid jewel tones). The Bottoms: Clean, dark denim (wrinkle-free) or well-tailored chinos. The Layer: A suede sport coat or a fringe leather jacket if the desert air gets chilly. The Flair: A bolo tie is the ultimate "Rodeo Glam" accessory. Don't forget a clean, shaped cowboy hat and a belt that says you mean business. A Quick Tip on Weather Terlingua temperatures can drop 30 degrees the moment the sun goes down. Even if it's 85°F at 4:00 PM, bring a layer—ideally one with some swingy fringe or embroidery to stay on theme.

Question

What is Texas Formal?

Answer

Late February in Terlingua is the ultimate "wildcard" season. You’re looking at bright, intense sunshine during the day (reaching in the 70s), but the moment the sun dips or a "blue norther" wind kicks in, the temperature can plummet. For a wedding at this time, "Texas Formal" becomes about functional layers and winter-desert textures. For the Gents: Structured & Seasonal Since it’s February, you can lean into heavier, more traditional "Western Formal" fabrics without overheating, but you still need to be ready for the midday sun. The Jacket: Tweed, wool, suede, leather (heavier) sport coat. Earth tones like chocolate brown, charcoal, or forest green look incredible against the desert backdrop. The Pants: Dark, indigo denim (crisply starched). The Boots: This is the season for your best Ostrich or Caiman leather boots. They hold up better against the potential February dust storms than suede. The Hat: February is Felt Hat season in Texas. For the Ladies: Desert Velvet & Deep Tones Late February calls for a "High Desert Chic" that feels a bit more substantial. The Dress: Think Velvet or heavy Silk. A long-sleeved midi or maxi dress is perfect for the fluctuating temperatures. Deep jewel tones—burgundy, navy, or burnt orange—complement the February landscape beautifully. The "Desert Wrap": You will need a layer. A heavy pashmina, a vintage faux-fur stole, or a tailored denim jacket with western embroidery ensures you don't shiver during the ceremony. The Legwear: Don't be afraid of opaque tights if the forecast looks chilly; they look great with cowboy boots and a shorter skirt. The Accessories: Felt wide-brim hats are both a fashion statement and a practical shield against the wind. Stick to silver and turquoise jewelry to pop against the darker winter fabrics.

Question

What is the weather like? Will our events be outside?

Answer

Events will be outside - so layers are your friend. Current weather is expected to be in the 70s during the day and the 50s in the evening. There will be outdoor heaters and a firepit for evening events - but plan to bring a jacket that can keep you warm into the evening. Remember, it can get windy in West Texas!

Question

Is there a schedule for Tuesday during the day?

Answer

We intentionally left Tuesday as a relaxing and adventurous day. Feel free to sleep in, explore, or hang out on the property. Our evening festivities begin around 6 pm.

Question

When we get to the property how do we check in?

Answer

Willow House staff will be on-site with Nicole and Alex to help get guests to their assigned casitas.

Question

Is there breakfast onsite?

Answer

A light breakfast will be available in the common house both on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Breakfast will include drip coffee, espresso, fruit, yogurt, granola, muffins, toast, jam, and some kolaches or breakfast sandwiches. On Thursday morning, breakfast tacos to go will be available.

Question

What about snacks?

Answer

We know this is a remote location, so various snacks will be available to grab in the main house at any time. We also anticipate lots of leftovers from our chef, Dylan, so feel free to dig in. Each casita will also have a personalized good bag upon arrival.
