Our mutual friend, bridesmaid, and village matchmaker, Jessie, is to blame. In the Spring of 2019, Jessie invited us both to Top Golf, hoping we would hit it off. However, she failed to tell me that she was trying to set me up, so I brought a friend (Ali~MOH, PA, and Exploding Kittens Master) to ensure I was not a third wheel in a group full of couples. I think both Jessie and Jordan (who knew of the set-up) were confused when I showed up and was not alone. Thankfully, Jordan did not let that stop him. He proceeded to offer me golf swing tips and eventually got my number. Apparently, I was too impatient to wait for him to contact me. (I do not remember this) BUT I reached out to him on Facebook before he could ask me out.
Jordan proposed on August 15, 2020. He had been a man of great mystery for weeks leading up to it. He would leave the house, saying he needed to run "errands." Jordan and I planned to get coffee on Saturday morning from Coffee Rush and then walk the dogs around the lake next to it. This was all a part of the master plan. However, I did not make it easy. On Saturday morning, after getting our coffees Jordan, Gilly, Moose, and I set out around the lake. About two minutes in, I realized I needed napkins, so I sent Jordan back to Coffee Rush to get some. About a minute after that, I suggested we switch to the other side of the lake because there was more shade. Jordan quickly shot that idea down because "we could get shade on the way back." As we neared the center of the lake, Jordan told me there was something wrong with Gilly's dog tag and asked me to check it. I reassured him her tag was fine. He tried to get me to check it again. And again, I said it was fine. Finally, he told me, "just look at the tag!" I bent down to look at the dog tag and noticed it did look a little different, and when I flipped it over, it read, "Will you marry my dad?" I was in complete shock when I looked up; Jordan was down on one knee. I wish I could remember what he said, but if I am being honest I was so overwhelmed with excitement, all I can recall is saying yes. The dogs then brought my attention to a stranger dressed in a sombrero, sunglasses, and a mask taking pictures of us. This amazing human was Shayna (attorney, bridesmaid, and engagement shoot professional). Shayna had champagne and flowers. After sweating bullets outside for pictures, I thought we were headed back home to rinse off. However, when we got there, my parents and a couple of friends were already there to celebrate! It was the sweetest mini engagement party surprise!
