“Let me start off by saying that none of this would have been possible had it not been for God’s hand in the midst of it. From the way I got the ring, to the timing, to just the excitement of the people we told, everything just fell right into place. So, my Grandma Connie has known the story of Scarlett and I for years and has always seen God’s hand in our interactions and eventual relationship, so it was a huge honor for her to offer me her ring to give to Scarlett. I needed to make a few changes to the ring, so Grandma and I went to the jeweler and got the ring altered as it needed to be and before I knew it, I had a ring to propose with. It just so happened that’s the very next day we had planned a family beach trip (which is conveniently the exact place Scarlett wanted to be proposed to), so while she was at the movies, I ran over to her house and concocted a plan with her parents to create the perfect proposal. With only about 45 minutes of planning under our belt, we all headed out the next day and found ourselves in Cambria, CA. I was beyond anxious/excited, but had to hide it because Scarlett had no idea what was about to happen. Needless to say, the 2 hours it took to get to the beach were the longest 2 hours of my life thanks to the anticipation. When we got there, I hid the ring as best I could and Scarlett and I walked along the beach, family following loosely behind with cameras secretly at the ready. I found a pretty spot and told her that I had gotten her something. It was a surprise so I had her close her eyes and count to 5; I knelt down and took out the ring as she counted. When she finally looked, her jaw dropped to the floor. As she stood there in shock, I instantly forgot the whole line I had planned to use as I was kneeling, so all I got out was: “Scarlett… Will you marry me?” As you may have guessed, she said yes.” -Jordan There’s a whole lot more to the story, from wardrobe mishaps to bystander interference, so be sure to ask us about the rest when you see us! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Bakersfield! Love, Scarlett and Jordan
